Outdoor Sessions

With outdoor sessions, I keep a close eye on the weather leading up to the day and I will check it first thing in the morning on the day of your session. I’ll contact you via phone to postpone if needed and we will reschedule your session, or change to a studio session if you prefer.

There are no rescheduling fees due to bad weather.

What if we need to reschedule our session?

If for any reason you need to reschedule please notify me as soon as possible.

Weekend Photography Sessions can be rescheduled one (1) time at no cost. Additional reschedules are charged at $50 per date change.

Rescheduling due to weather will not incur charges.

Newborn sessions may need to be rescheduled due to unforseen circumstances, if this is the case there is no charge to reschedule, and we work together to book a new session date.

What to wear?

Choosing outfits can be a daunting task but it doesn’t have to be, it is important that everyone feels comfortable in what they are wearing. You don’t want an outfit that keeps shifting out of place or straps that keep falling down. In the same way, something that allows your child/ren to move freely will make them feel much more comfortable.

What Happens Next?

Communication...

You will receive confirmation of your session from me, including the date, time and location. I will be in touch a couple of days prior to your booking to answer any last minute questions.   Please feel free to touch base with any queries you may have in between this.  I am as your photographer, and I am happy to hear any ideas you have, we are here to work together.

Your Session...

Please relax and allow yourself to enjoy your session. We have done all the planning and you have arrived with your family, now enjoy the process.  I expect children (of all ages) to go through emotions during a session and I am completely fine with anything that arises.  We keep things lighthearted and fun to encourage laughter and giggles, for younger kids.  For the teenagers it is often banter and jest.

Viewing Appointment...

1-2 weeks after your session we will meet for you to view your gorgeous images for the first time, this is where you get to select your favourites and choose how you would like to have them presented in your home.  I am here to help with this, and we have great processes to make this a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Your Artwork...

What to Wear?

This is the most commonly asked question once people decide to have a session, it is great to put some thought to this, but we don't want it to be overwhelming, I am here to help!

Focus on choosing colours, tones and textures that will compliment each other and your home. Consider coordinating your outfits to your home décor, as you will be displaying your photos on your walls. For example, if your house is decorated in white muted tones, avoid wearing bright and bold outfits. Patterns can be a great way to add interest and texture but try to keep busy patterns to a minimum. If someone in your family loves to wear florals for instance, have everyone else wear plain colours that compliment the pattern. A great tip that works well is to gather your outfits together and lay them on the bed, this is a way to see if they coordinate together. You can switch it up if something isn’t working.

What to avoid:

Logos or text on clothing is distracting. Avoid large or bright logos. Checks, Plaids or thin stripes can distort depending on angles and should be avoided.  Neon colours can reflect onto your face, causing skin tone to look off, they will also draw all the attention.

Extra details to consider:

If you are wearing nail polish, make sure it is a colour that fits in with your colour scheme.  Check your child/children's hands - remove any pen or nail polish the night before. Trying to remove pen marks from hands just before a session can leave red marks. Style hair naturally, be mindful of long fringes that might fall across the face and consider clipping it out of their face. For the males if they need haircuts try and get them the week before to give it a little time to settle. Having chapstick handy for dry lips is also a bonus.
